Salvation

What happens when you die?

We believe that salvation is the most important decision you’ll ever make. It’s not about religion or good works; it’s about a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

The Bible tells us that all of us have fallen short of God’s perfect standard, but through His Son, Jesus, we can be forgiven, redeemed, and restored. Below, we’ll walk through key truths from God’s Word to show your need for a Savior and how to receive His free gift of salvation.

Our Need for a Savior

We live in a broken world, and the Bible is clear that every person is in need of rescue from sin. Sin separates us from a holy God, but He doesn’t leave us in that place—He pursues us with love.

  • Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; (No one is perfect; we’ve all missed the mark and need forgiveness.)
  • Isaiah 53:6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all. (Like wandering sheep, we’ve gone our own way, but God placed our sins on Jesus.)
  • Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. (Sin earns us spiritual death and separation from God, but His gift offers life forever.)

These verses remind us that we’re all in the same boat—lost without a Savior. But here’s the good news: God hasn’t abandoned us.

God’s Provision

The book of Romans in the Bible lays out a clear “roadmap” to understanding and receiving salvation. It’s a journey from recognizing our sin to calling on Christ in faith.

Let’s take a look at each step:

  1. The Problem: We’ve Sinned For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Romans 3:23
  2. The Consequence: Sin Leads to Death For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Romans 6:23
  3. The Solution: Christ’s Sacrifice But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8 (Jesus didn’t wait for us to “get it together”—He died for us right in our sin.)
  4. The Response: Believe and Confess That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. Romans 10:9-10
  5. The Promise: Call on Him and Be Saved For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. Romans 10:13 (Salvation is available to anyone who simply calls on Jesus in faith—no exceptions.)

This isn’t about earning your way; it’s about trusting in what Jesus has already done. As John 3:16 beautifully promises: For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

And Ephesians 2:8-9 seals it: For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.

“It Is Finished” – Nothing Left to Earn

Jesus’ final words on the cross declare the completeness of His work: When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost. John 19:30

There is nothing you can add to what Christ accomplished. No good deeds, no rituals, no striving can save you—it’s all grace, all gift. To dive deeper into this truth, listen to a recent sermon I preached. In this sermon, we unpack Jesus’ words from Calvary, with special emphasis on how “It is finished” frees us from any attempt to earn heaven.

Take the Next Step: Receive Salvation Today

If these verses have stirred your heart, you can pray right now to accept Jesus as your Savior.

If you would like to know more, please contact me at tanners2ma@gmail.com, and I would consider it a privilege to discuss this topic with you further. The most important question we all need to ask is, “Where will I go when I die?” Nothing is more important. The Bible says that we can know for sure where we will spend eternity:

And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. – 1 John 5:11-13

We’re praying for you. God bless!
